It should take no more than 15-20 minutes to do an average 4,000 sq. ft. lawn. However, every lawn is different from the next and the length of time it takes to complete the application will depend upon the grade, the number of obstructions, etc. as well as size.

The germination of seed requires relatively warm days (consistently 60 degrees or better), cool nights, and normal soil moisture. Under ideal conditions, permanent grasses, such as Kentucky Blue Grass, take 3-5 weeks to grow. If colder temperatures persist it could take 2-3 weeks longer. Quick-growing grasses such as Rye Grass can germinate in less than 2 weeks, however, these are not permanent grasses.

Weed control is a year-long proposition and is only effective on weed plants, not on the seeds that have not germinated. Therefore, each time an application is completed, weed control will get rid of the existing crop and through multiple applications throughout the year the lawn will GRADUALLY rid the lawn of a majority of weeds. Through our program, your lawn will thicken and will also prevent weeds from taking root.

Yes, grass in shade areas is always weaker than in sunny areas. In most cases, that area will not be disturbed by heavy machinery. Instead, our materials will be gently done by hand so as to not disturb the grasses growing there. It is advisable for the homeowner to also stay off these areas with ant heavy machinery and constant traffic. Trimming of tree limbs and branches to allow more sunlight will help as well.

There are many causes for brown spots, typically caused by fungus, lack of water, physical damage, or disease. Our lawn care technicians will determine the cause and advise the customer of the problem and remedies.

A ChemTurf serviced lawn never has to be raked or de-thatched. The gypsum added to all our fertilizers helps to organically aerate the lawn throughout the entire year. Which allows all the dead matter to disintegrate back into the lawn as a natural fertilizer that helps to enrich the soil.
